Kitchen Cab

I'm installing a laminate countertop. I understand that I can buy a kit to raise it above the cabinets, or just use plywood. I'm going to just use plywood. My question is where do I put the plywood? I understand that I need to put a piece in the both the front and back. How about the middle? In terms of size, should each piece of plywood be about 2-3" wide and the length of the cabinet run?

Thanks for your help,

Richard

I just use 1 X 4's, just need to cut to length that way.
Install it all around the edges and the middle.
Make sure to predrill some through holes in the corners for screw to attach the top to.

Place the buildup strips at the rear of the cabinets next to the wall, and over the cabinet sidewalls perpendicular to the front and rear cabinet walls. You want to distribute the weight evenly over the bases. Depending on who you order the counters from, there may be some buildups already attached, so be sure to dry fit everything first.
