Kerdi Shower Kit (48" x 48" Tray) For Desired 38" x 38" Neo Angle Shower

Hi Everyone,

I've attached a picture of my original shower dimensions.

I was wondering if the Schluter Systems Kerdi Shower Kit (48"x48" Tray) can be used to make a 38" x 38" Neo Angle Shower?

Also as seen in the attached picture, my center drain is 12" from the side walls.

It seems like the kit would work for what I want. However, before I order, I wanted to get some feedback to see if anyone knows that it would work or not.

Thanks,

Jason

I'm in the middle of doing a 36x48 neo-angle shower with a kerdi pan. Cutting the pan is easy. But the drain starts out in the middle. So, the middle of the drain is 24" from the sides. I don't think that's gonna work for you.

Hey, thanks for your response! Interesting ...

If the drain is 24" from the sides, then what if I cut 12" from the two sides to get the center drain back to 12" from the edge? Considering you have the kerdi pan, do you think that would work? How would that affect the slope?

If I can't use the 48" x 48" Kerdi Shower Kit, then what about an off center kit?

Or maybe this Kerdi Shower approach just won't work for me?

If you cut 12" off one side to move the drain, won't you be 2" short on the other side? You'd have to make that up with mud. The slope would still be correct. But the perimeter of the floor would be higher on the sides farther from the drain. So your bottom course of tiles would be uneven at the floor. You could make it work. But your time (and money) might be better spent learning to do it all out of mud. You can still do Kerdi over a mud floor.

BTW, stop by the local Kerdi distributor and ask for the DVD. It'll give you a good idea of what you're in for.
