I'm sick of waiting another year for my Dad to do it.

How do you install a new vent and patch the old when putting in a new microwave/ oven hood?
The old vent hole is in the wrong spot and I'm guessing the wrong size.

Welcome to the forum!

check with the literature that came with your microwave oven. it should specify the size of vent needed, as well as type. if you do not have it try their website.

if you could post a couple of photos so we could see where the oven is going in relationship to where the existing hole is it would help it providing you some useful suggestions.

This is not necessarily a casual project. And are you venting a microwave or some combination of one with an electric or gas oven? And to the outside right?
