How to Remove Porcelain Bathroom Sink from Tile Countertop

I am attempting to remove a porcelain bathroom sink that is set next to (even with) the tile of the countertop. It is the original 1965 sink and countertop.

I am removing the very narrow grout with a grout saw and having some success. It appears that the edge of the sink was placed in the mud for the countertop. I am going to attempt to loosen the mud with a chisel but this appears to be daunting.

Any suggestions as to how to accomplish the removal of this sink would be greatly appreciated. I am replacing the sink with a drop in sink that will go over the existing opening and sit on top of the tile.

(I have to be certain that I do not break any tiles because the countertop and the entire bathroom are tiled. There are no replacement tiles.)

I think the best thing is to start with a pic.
