Which grout sealer to use?

Hello,

I need to buy a grout sealer for my bathroom tiling project. Which grout sealer brand is good (best) and where to buy it?

Thanks.

Go to a good local tile store and ask them to recommend one.

I did. They always recommend you the a sealer they sell.
Fortunately, I found a good web site that posts "Review of the most popular consumer and professional grade grout sealers."
Here is the link: http://www.tilecleaning.org/grout-sealer-review.htm

I ordered "Aquamix Sealers Choice Gold tile , grout and stone sealer" ranked as a number 1 on this site.

The tile store will carry a good product. It's in their best interest to sell products that work well. Are they the best? I don't know.
I'll check out the link in any case. You can't have too much information.

Which grout sealer to use?

Two days ago I went to my local tile store. It is a huge store 'Tile Shop'. I asked them about a grout sealer. They carry only one product with no brand name. A store guy told me that it was their own brand and that it was the best grout sealer on the market. I asked about coverage and store guy told me that one quart battle covers from 500 up to 700 sq. ft.. I could not believe it and checked on the battle and found that one quart covers from 150 to up 200 sq. ft. The guy lied to me. He could lie about sealer quality as well. So, I decided to shop in some other place.

By definition, that wasn't a "good tile store". But you got what you wanted and hopefully it does the job.

Which grout sealer to use?

We recently had lots of light colored porcelain tile installed throughout much of our downstairs. The light grout looked the best, so that's what we went with. I spent weeks researching grout sealers and got samples of a couple of them. The one our tile store recommended was useless in a test run. I finally ended up buying a product by Dupont called "Bullet Proof Grout Sealer". It's expensive, but so far it is holding up well with several pets and people who drop stuff on it.

I had a hard time finding the stuff and bought the first quart (it took 2 quarts with much left over for 1100 square feet of grout.) and bought the first quart in a tile store in the next town at about $56. I bought the other quart from Amazon. The cheapest place to buy it, even with shipping was Amazon.com, believe it or not. I see that they now have it on Prime shipping, so if you have that you get free 2 day shipping. I posted a review of it here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R2FIKPU...wasThisHelpful I've only had it down for about a month, but so far I'm happy with it. Liquids bubble up and don't seem to sink in. I'm not sure what would happen if you left something like red wine on it for hours, and not sure if anything would hold up to that.

I think applying grout sealer, especially when you have a lot of it is one of the most tedious jobs there is. I did it in sections as the tile was being installed. (After waiting 72 hours for it to cure.) Hope this helps.
