We're nearly ready to install our Granite counter top - we will be installing an UNDER SINK type of sink mounting. Some confusion about the adhesives :
1 - which adhesive should be used for the part where the SINK meets the GRANITE? The Silcone Adhesive GE II that we got looks WHITE. I fear that some of it will bleed out creating a white line.
2 - Will PL 400 Construction adhesive be the right one to adhere the SINK edge to the underlayment .....
3 - lastly, we have a piece of Granite BACK-SPLASH that will go at the rear of the sink. Again, a CLEAR Silcone would seem best? or should we use one that is called "adhesive" in the name? I really don't want a white line or seam showing after attaching it.
Silicone is appropriate, but a mechanical connection is needed to properly and securely mount an undermount sink to a granite top. Hopefully your fabricator included some slots in the bottom of the granite to accept sink fasteners. Glue alone won't do it.
Many clear silicone caulks go on white but cure clear.
