Floor or Cabinets First?

Getting ready for a total kitchen remodel. Just wondering if anyone has any preference or if there is a unwritten rule as to which comes first. Cabinets or floor? I have read that it may be personal preference or you can install your cabinets first then lay your flooring right up to them. I was thinking on flooring first. Thanks ...

Floor or Cabinets First?

I've done the floor first, when I was installing flooring; just butt it up against existing cabinets. All depends on your situation and personal preference. Allow for expansion...

Keep in mind that installing flooring inside a dishwasher opening my reduce vertical clearances far enough that some dishwashers may not fit under the counter top.

Floor or Cabinets First?

Floors first---much faster, keeps the cabinets at the correct height -neater trim job, no shoe molding needed at the toe kicks---no messing up the cabinets with thinset ---the list goes on.

Floor or Cabinets First?

Edited:

Floor first if you can but understand that the cabinets will still need to be shimmed and depending on the floor you may have to shim them quite a bit.

I just did a job yesterday where the floor was 1.25" out of lever over 10 feet.
