cutting marble back splash


installing a new microwave that wont fit because of a back splash is now to high. need to cut 1/2 to 1" off top of back splash . is it possible to cut marble/granet while on the wall?

Yes,but it's messy.

A 4" angel grinder with a diamond bit is a start---then a milti tool with a modified diamond cutter.

Post a picture if it is possible.--It might be easier to build out the area above the tile and just mount the microwave out a bit farther than usual.---Mike---

The issue with cutting material on the wall are the corners. Tools with circular blades can't get in the corners or too close to the cabinet sides. Even jigsaws will hit the sides before the blade gets to the corner.
