Countertop Trim

I am iinstalling a bath vanity/cabinet and my wife found a formica countertop with backsplash she wants for the top. It is only 48" wide and my space (wall to wall is 48.5".
An suggestions for filling in the quarter inch left on each side? I think a bead of caulk will be too big and look tacky. It also has to follow the contour of the curved backsplash.
Thanks

I would check local tile places for stone or solid surface strips that match or compliment the formica. They are usually 1/2 x 3 or 4"
