Cost to have bath tub installed

I already demo'ed but the bath tub that was previously in was a 60" x 30" tub and I bought the same dimension tub. The builder notched the studs to fit in the tub and I tried doing the same but couldn't get the tub to fit without damaging it. I'm thinking of having someone put the tub in and plumb the drain. Then I can put up the cement board plus tile it and install the fixtures. How much should I expect to pay to have just the tub installed with the drain? I live in Auburn, ME.

It sounds like you need a carpenter more that you need a plumber---

If you call out a plumber and he,or she, finds the framing needs modifying --the plumber will either leave or hack out the studs to get the tub in---leaving you with the need for a carpenter.

post pictures of the tub area---we have carpenters and plumbers here who will guide you.

To get a price guess--you will need to call a local plumber or two--but,as your install is not standard due to the odd sized opening, I'm guessing the job will be hourly--not a set price.

What do you mean by "couldn't get the tub to fit"?

There's many ways to approach the problem. But it would help quite a bit to see pictures of the situation. Because those might help get advice on how to make sure the job gets done effectively, without making things worse. As in, if you still want to pay someone then get educated on just exactly what to ask them to do, and know how to avoid letting them talk you into shortcuts.

Who do I call to get a tub ordered and installed? A general contractor, carpenter, plumber, etc? Home Depot and lowes in my area don't install tubs.

Trouble is you've put yourself into a bind. Few contractors are eager to step into a job when DIY has been involved. But I'd start with a plumber or a contractor that's specifically known to be actively working on bathrooms.

A carpenter can fix your framing for the tub- but may not do so well on the plumbing, He should know a good plumber though
A plumber can set the tub but he's not a carpenter.....
