Corian top removal from undermount sink without breaking top into pieces.

My contractor said the corian top to my undermount sink will break into pieces when it is removed. Is there a way to remove it without breaking the corian top I just love? I want to change my undermount sink color and the sink needs to be removed. Is the contractor just taking the easy way out and not allowing sufficient time for the removal?

I might have told you it might break and make you sign a statement stating that but in most cases it can be removed.
Not a job for the faint of heart.

What he said........, it might break, not it will break, and not into pieces. Tops are usually held in place with dabs of silicone caulk around the perimeter, not a continuous bond around the whole perimeter. Proper use of a long putty knife usually frees things up.

A good thing about Corian........it can be repaired so the seams are barely visible.

Is the sink made of corian also?

What happened to the OP? It would be worthwhile to have a crew that is experienced with Corian.
