Can black laquer furniture be faux finished?

I am currently redecorationg the entire house. We inherited a all white very contemporary home. There are severl nice wall piecs, with a bar built in. I am changing to a Tuscan interior. If anyone has done this before, or knows if it can be done and how, please share with me.

I'm no expert but I do know this:lacquer will react (bubble, crack etc.) to almost any finish applied to it that is not lacquer or lacquer based.I'd talk to a qualified person at a full line paint store concerning your project as it may be tricky to do.
