Thinking about using them for a kitchen remodel. Any of you fine folk have any experience with them? Feedback very much appreciated!

They look like a very easy assembly---Good design overall---The plywood boxes should have enough strength to hold up granite---Best to call them on that.

Microwave? No problem.

I would have liked to use these on a couple of low budget kitchens I did last year--These cabinets look like they will hold up well---much better than the photo finished particle board stuff that is in a similar price category.

Would I use them in my own home? Nope--I'm a cabinet maker---I'd be ribbed to death.

Would I suggest these to a customer on a limited budget---Yes,absolutely.

The doors and face frames are nice---They also had a lot of vanities and tops.

Certainly worth investigating.---Mike---

It looks like they have a shop in your area---Judge for your self--M-

Unfortunately I can't yet give you a review of the quality of the cabinets, because I can't get mine that I have already paid for, delivered.

This may only be a local issue, and may only be one employee, or it may be company wide, I have no way of knowing. I can tell you that the salesman I've been dealing with never and I mean NEVER calls or emails, even when I ask a direct question, or he has told me that he would be calling/emailing.

I can tell you that I have called the national "customer service" number twice, and it has always gone to voice mail, which have never been answered.

I suspect that the reason this person never calls back is because one of the cabinets we want was not in stock anywhere locally, and had to come from California. So I can only assume that since it was always going to be bad news, this individual has always chosen to completely ignore me.

I can accept bad news when it can't be helped and everyone is trying, but I can not live with being ignored as a customer. I would never deal with this company again, ever. My main fear is that if they ignore me now, what if I have problems? I will post back here with the results, including a review of the cabinets, if I ever get them.

Hi Crayola110,

So far, so good with our new CTG cabinets. I love the finish - very easy to keep clean & have been very impressed with quality, feel & look of cabinets. Many friends & neighbors have come to see my remodeled kitchen & all have been extremely complimentary of the cabinets. I used a remodeling firm to do my kitchen which meant the cabinets were professionally installed. I think that has made a huge difference because they were able to make custom cuts. I'd feel confident in the product. I'm happy & hope this helps.

Actually the boxes are plywood---and have a rather simple fastening system----
A customer of mine bought, assembled and installed a kitchen full---he said the assembly went smoothly---

Kitchen looked good---he did say that the clerk miss ordered one cabinet---so do check the order against your own drawing----

I'm using this cabinet line in my kitchen remodel but I didn't purchase them through Cabinets to Go. I went with the Victoria Ivory collection. Anyone have any experience with this collection? I had a neighbor who is a carpenter look at a door given to me by the kitchen remodeling co we are using & he said it was a very well made door. That made me feel better because there is very limited information on the web about these cabinets. I would be curious to hear from owners who've had the cabinets installed for a number of years and to know how they are holding up.

Thanks so much. I think I will pull the trigger and buy them. I was a little afraid because the price is relatively low for cabinets so I thought it might lack quality. And because they're in boxes that must be assembled that are made in China instead of the US like many cabinets.

Anyways, I was wondering if you guys installed yourself or assembled at least? Should I attempt this?

And it's all Chinese. What quality "all plywood" do you think they use? The kind with the extra formaldehyde or with some other toxic substance? You can't even find the same company supplying them for longer than a year or two before it goes out of business and on to the next supplier.

I just wanted to add that we had the opportunity to carry Chinese cabinets in our showroom, and I couldn't find any that would pass my quality control assessment. Much less get a KCMA seal of approval. If you want to read about how tough cabinets have to be to pass that testing, read about theKCMA testing procedures.

I know this is an old thread, but I just happened to have read my post way back on the first page, and in the interest of being fair, thought I should update.

Customer service issues aside, (which I may have overstated a bit due to the general frustration of a total kitchen remodel) I guess these have been in a little over 4 years now, and I must say we have been very pleased.

I found them easy to assemble, and have no problem with the quality. For us, the best feature is the fact that they look just like cabinets that easily could have cost 4 to 5 times more than what we paid for these. Everyone who has seen them has been very impressed, and they have held up just fine.

This company made cabinets available in our price range that we could never have otherwise afforded, and at least for us, were a far better deal than Lowe's or Home Depot could even begin to offer. Not even close.

We would not hesitate to do it all over again if the situation ever came up, no doubt about it.

Well,I stopped by and saw their cabinets---

These cabinets are all wood --face framed---'knocked down" boxes -made in China.

The doors were surprisingly nice--solid wood--Cherry,hickory and paint --

Because they are assemble it your self the drawers are not dovetailed----
The boxes themselves looked quite stout--plywood sides and backs--rabbited grooves and some kind of quick lock to hold it together.

Very limited sizes--limited accessories----The trims on the display were pieced--so I am guessing that they only come in short lengths ---

All in all---looks good----nice boxes---fair drawers---I don't know what to compare them to price wise-----They are much better than Lowes cheap off the shelf boxes---Much much better than any particle board knock down--

Doors look nice----What else do you want to know?

Mike:

Very thorough review! My major concerns are:

1. Ease of cabinet assembly for a real novice.

2. Base cabinets sturdy enough to hold granite countertops and heavy sink.

3. Wall cabinets capable of supporting an over-the-stove microwave and heavy china.

4. In your opinion, would you use these in your own kitchen?

Saw the off-the-shelf models at Lowe's and was not impressed. Not a big fan of particle board.

A big SoCal thank you for your detective work!

Mop:

You've raised some extremely valid points and I appreciate your opinion. I, to, am sick and tired of all the garbage we import from overseas while we lose precious jobs here. My wife and I are planning on putting our house on the (sucky) real estate market this Spring. Our kitchen is clean and functionally, but tired, worn and dated. It hasn't been remodeled since 1978. We thought Cabinets To Go would save us a pretty penny but now I am concerned about the quality, as well. Time for more research.

Good to hear----if the service is dismal we need to know----I still haven't used them--but I did suggest the company to someone last week--for an apartment fix up--

I'll be talking to her today and warn her---Mike---

The local Los Angeles showroom is about a 20 minute drive down the freeway from my home. The warehouse is less than an hours drive east of me. I'm unaware of the location(s) of their other warehouses, but it's hard to believe that they rely only on the one in SoCal to service the rest of the U.S.

"I heard about this company, are they any good? Has anyone ever used this product?"

Threads like these by first time posters are almost ALWAYS spammers trying to self-promote.
2 threads about the same company? Sure reeks of spam to me!
I sincerely hope if it isn't spam the company learns from the bad reviews and complaints they're getting here!
Spamming THIS forum does not always get the attention the spammers might hope for. :)

When I get home tonight, I'll look in to this further and we'll decide if it's spam or not and whether or not to ban the posters....
We're not stupid, so please don't think your idea (sneaky spam) is in any way, shape or form a new one.....

Personally, when I get new kitchen cabinets, I plan on hiring a local cabinet maker (like oh'mike) who knows what the **** they're doing and that uses quality materials, no particle board, cardboard crap. Solid wood and plywood, period. Getting REAL sick of Chinese garbage taking over our lives.
BUY USA!!! The job you save may be your own!!!
