Building a New Shower What to Use??

I am going to build a new shower in a ensuite bathroom. I am going to use the Kerdi system so my question what kind of wall board should I use on the inside of the studs (drywall or plywood). Pros and Cons for both.

I'd use cement board. I always use cement board. I know Schulter shows drywall, but in case the installation gets a pin hole in the kerdi, I use cement board.
Plywood is totally inappropriate due to possibly warping, among other reasons. Other reason is that I personnally don't like it.

The reason I suggested plywood is that I have lots of 3/4" GOS that I was thinking of using. Do you think that it will warp as the Kerdi is supposed to be completely waterproff. I realise that anything can happen such as a hole in the membrane but if carfully installed it should be 100% waterproff.

I agree with Ron 100%--Cement board-

It's like an insurance policy--You hope you never need it but you'll be glad you do if something goes wrong.

You will have a lot of time and money sunk into this shower by the time you finish-

will the cost of a few sheets of durrock matter that much?

I do what I do because it works, not because I have an excess supply of a specific building item. You can do whatever you want to do, I don't really care.
I should, but I don't.

Thanks for the responses. OK you have convinced me even is you don't really care (Ron6519). I value everyones opinions thats what these forms are for. I was not really trying to save a lot of money just use material I had so it doesn't go to waste, will have to come up with another project for the plywood. Cement Board it is!!!!

Pulling teeth from a chicken easy.

You sure have differant chickens than were we come from. Look at the teeth on that one bit right through that 3/4" plywood.
