bathtub subfloor drain pit

Under my tub there is a hole in the slab for the trap and the connection to the cast iron main. Its just dirt under there and I've dug it out and removed all the old pipe I can easily get to. When I am done replacing (with abs) should I be doing something about the exposed dirt like covering it with lime or cement?

There was some flaky white stuff covering the dirt, but it could have been left over plaster the builders 'swept under the rug'.
