Bathtub over Tile????

Hello all, I gutted my bathroom and am working my way back. I was wondering if I could place the tub(full bathtub) on ceramic tile instead of on the subfloor? The tiles are flat,no rounded corners or anything like that.
I just got the Hardieboard down and this question popped into my head.
It is a very small bathroom ,so cost would be minimal. Just do not know the pros and cons or just don't do it!
Thank you for your time-Ron

No---bad plan---tub first--then the tile----backer can go under the tub but the tile should be cut to the tub--caulked with a flexible caulk---

Thank you, I will not do that. Can you tell me why you are not supposed to put the tub over tile? Thank you for your time-Ron

Bathtub over Tile????

Floors are seldom level---the tub must be level--so some shimming may be required--the tile will hide that gap.

Tub skirts are not always perfect at the bottom edge---the tile will hide that.

Tub skirts are sometimes weak and move---the tile will stop that movement.

There are more reasons but I haven't had coffee----If you need more let me know---

Bathtub over Tile????

What do you do down the road when someone wants to change the style or color of the tile.
If the wax ring under toilet leaks and takes out the subflooring how are you going to repair the flooring?
