bathtub one piece wall and tub replacement

when using a one piece tub/wall surround, do I need to remove the tile on the walls above the tub before putting in the liner?

Those are mounted to the studs--so yes the walls must be stripped.

One piece tub and surround units are typically used only in new construction because they will not fit through the door and turn into the room.

Tub with a three piece surround is what is used most frequently in remodeling.---Mike---
