Backsplash tile to granite counter top area

Getting ready to install a tile back splash in kitchen. Already have granite counter top. Where the first row of tiles meet the counter top, should you grout or caulk that area?
Thanks.

Backsplash tile to granite counter top area

I use Dow Corning 786 Translucent there after using a strip of formica/arborite as a spacer for the tile.

Backsplash tile to granite counter top area

Finished the job. I was advised to use toothpicks as spacers for the tile to counter top area. Worked fine as I just wanted a small gap. Used GE Silicone II clear and cut a small 1/16" opening in the tip. It was relatively easy to control the flow with that small an opening. I read that alcohol was good to put on your finger to smooth the bead. It worked much better than any caulking job I had ever done.

Thanks for your help.
