Attaching tread to stone tiles

Hey There,

Trying to attach a tread which comes in from the dining room with hardwood floors to the kitchen, which has stone tiles. I tried an all purpose adhesive from Lowes. Didn't work. I could nail the tread into the hardwood flooring ok, I'm just worried if it's not secure on the stone tiles it may come loose and tear up the hard wood flooring nailed on that side.

Any suggestions???

Thanks...

Neutral cure Silicone. They have one that sets in 4 hours. Make sure you place the beads about 2 inches in from the end so you can cut it with a sharp knife if you need to take it up. 2 inch double stick tape should work too, I would think.
