Zoeller Drain Pump trips GFI

Zoeller 105 - Model 53 Drain Pump with basin.

The drain pump, which is used for pumping washing machine water via a laundry tub, has stopped working and has tripped the GFI outlet. Every time I plug it back in the GFI outlet it trips. In addition, I ran an electrical cord from another GFI outlet and it tripped as well. Any ideas what may be causing this to happen? My thanks in advance.

Pump could have an internal short that GFCI is sensing. Could be a bad GFCI. Do other items plugged into GFCI cause it to trip? How old is pump?

sounds like it's time for a new pump, if it trips both tested gfci's...
