Okay, so I used a new continuous waste setup that was direct connect (The previous one had a double female collar). That raised the trap up a bit. Then I cut off the length of ABS from the old T connection, that way I could use the threads. I threaded on the dishwasher tail piece that I cut off about 2" below the nipple. then put that into a slip adapter, then the trap and it all lined up.

But... What's wrong with the picture? Where's the nipple? It broke off!

so frustrating... Off to the hardware store first thing in the morning!

So hopefully with the nipple on it will still fit, its tight.

Also that style strainer basket adds an inch or two to the length.
