Why I Hate Gate Valves

Don't really need to say much....the picture speaks for itself...

This 'was' the valve for the cold line to my water heater. I have since replaced it with a ball valve.

One of the first things I did when I moved into my house 12 years ago was replace the POS gate valve for the water shut off with a ball valve.

Even if you are on the right track, you will still get run over if you just sit there.

yeah and they seem to be more problematic when they are left open for long periods of time. definitely not good for water heaters and washer hookups where they never seem to work the ONE time you need to close them.

Gate Valves

I can't believe how many gate valves are still out there on natural gas lines.
