Why doesn't this exist?

If it does - let me know - because obviously I'm unaware.

But wouldn't it be snazzy to have a wall/floor/ceiling protector flange that's a tube which slips into your opening before you feed in your new pipe - with one end that springs open like a hollow wall anchor so it's braced but inserted from one side only? Like a gasket or an extended escutcheon that is made to protect the surface of your pass-through.

I've actually always wanted to use something like that so pipe doesn't rub or contact flooring/wallboard/etc - which might also help to protect against leaks that I've had to repair (such as when a pipe passes through 4x4) but they just don't seem to exist.
