Why do they make copper plated steel pipe hangers?

About all I can find at the box stores is steel pipe hangers with a super thin coating of copper plated to the outside. But the metal is coated, then stamped, so the steel is exposed on the sides. Anyway, the copper coating on all the pipe hangers I have installed of this type is no longer there and the steel is rusting.

Isn't it bad to use copper and steel in contact with eachother? I have switched to using strut or thick steel brackets and I take a clear flexible plastic tube and make spacers out of them so I don't have issues with the copper eating the steel.

Whoever makes those brackets should be sued and I hope they go out of business for making such a terrible product.
