Whole house magnets

My water is extremely hard (42 grains). I have a water softener, however at that hardness a softener can only do so much. In 32 years Iíve gone through four water heaters, three kitchen faucets and two bath tubs. Iíd like to know if anyone has had any experience with whole house magnets. Do they work, or any other suggestions short of moving. Any help is appreciated.

Whole house magnets

Water in my N California home was dreadfully hard and like you I went through water heaters fairly quickly. Faithfully flushing them helped somewhat. I finally switched to tankless back when they were still fairly novel in this country. My logic was the water would not be sitting or pooling in them. The units were Bosch and not cheap. I sold the house within a couple years of putting them in so do not know how it worked out.

It was nice to have hot water on demand where it was needed without wasting lots from the water heater to the baths on opposite ends of the house.

Magnet water conditioners are even more a scam than those sonic insect repellent things.

Scam. If you want your water heater to last you will have to do a couple of things. 1. Change your anode rod regularly 2. Flush the sediment from your tank four times a year.

When I was shopping for a tankless to put in the house I was building, I was told that they should not be used if you have hard water. Apparently they fail in a short time.
