Whistling noise from shower

Quick question...maybe this isn't enough info but I thought I would ask anyhow.......

When my kids use the shower in our guest bathroom, there is a whistling noise that occurs. It is not when the tub is running, only when they switch it to the shower.

The house is 15 years old, built by a local builder. He did use pretty cheap finish materials. The noise has been happening for a long time, but nothing is leaking.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance

Chances are the diverter valve is not closing all the way, or you have a really clean ghost that likes to whistle.

Moron ghost only knows one note though...that would be cool, then maybe Zak and the boys could come do a lockdown in my bathroom!!

The diverter is the plug you pull up on the tub spout then I assume...Do I replace the whole valve then? Or is there a simpler fix?

Thanks again

Ding, Ding, Ding, you are correct!

You should first check to see if it leaks in shower position before you replace it.

If it leaks you could replace the spout, best way to figure out how to remove the old one, is go look at a new one, this will give you a good hint on how to remove the old one.

Good luck on your ghost removal.
