Where should I buy my water softener from (and capacity question)?

Look to buy a Fleck 5600sxt 48,000 grain capacity softener.

I've been told ohiopurewater.com and qualitywatertreatment.com are both good sites, among others. Well...which would you choose?

Also, i've heard that the sizing calculators are wrong (on these sites)...is there any better way to size it?

Thanks!

Remember this when dealing with the on line companies.
A. You have to do all the work for your self, install, trouble shooting and fixing.
B. Any part that might be under a warranty will have to go back to them for a ruling as to is it or not a warranty and then a replacement part sent back and that could take up to 3 weeks between mailing there and back and the part going to Pentair for the judgement.

What again is your hardness , iron, under of people and number of bathrooms?
City or well?

City water. Company claims its 11gpg (reading in 2011) but a few tests i have seen show closer to 20-30gpg (i've got to find somewhere to test this water thats not too expensive, though, just to double check). Three people in the house. 4 bathrooms (three with showers), but we only use two of the showers and three of the toilets. :P Iron is negligble, like 0.01ppm (according to the water quality report).

I my self would do a 1.5 cubic or often called 48k max capacity.
The above system with 9lbs of salt would give a capacity of 30k/15h equal about 2000 gallons and with 3 people that would be about every 10 days give or take some.

Again remember what I have said about service and warranty with on line companies.

I think i will go ahead and do the 48000 grain system. I hear you on the warranty and service side of things. I dont think that's too big of a deal. I dunno.

Ok, figured i would bump this thread with newer information. Our water is around 10-12 gpg hardness until summer when its 30 gpg. With that said, should I still get a 48,000 capacity system?

Would this recommendation change if it were just 2 people in the house (only 2 people will be here after next year)?

Thanks a ton!

Buy a Fleck. But I almost by accident bought a way to large of capacity. At first I thought a mistake, but it uses very little salt. I think salt usage per regeneration, varies little for the amount of resin you have.
