When were drum traps used?

I have a 1945 home. Our tub runs slow. I suspect that the yahoo's the did the bathroom remodel (previous owners' contractors) did not replace the drum trap with a P trap.

I'm wondering what years a drum trap was used?

Thanks
Karl

Not sure of specifics, but around here, I have found them in houses from the 40's to the 70's. Never understood the concept, they clog easily and can't be cleaned out with a snake, even if you get the cover off.

Around here we see them in homes from the early 1900's on up through the 40's.

Was it used, or found in a salvage yard?

It's safe to say your tub had a drum trap when it was installed in 45 but who knows if ut was replaced.
