What size tube spout for 5inch pipe?

So Im replacing a tub spout and the pipe sticks out exactly 5 inches from the wall. I bought a universal spout today from Lowes which was dumb because I knew it was going to be too short which it was, so Im going to return it. This universal one didnt even say what length it was supposed to fit on the package.

So how do I shop for a new spout that needs to fit a 5inch pipe?

Theres a gap between the spout and the wall.

Post a picture if you can.
There's always a gap, it gets covered with an escuntion plate made for shower pipes.

Assuming you have black pipe, just unscrew 5" pipe and install proper length for your tub spout.
A picture is worth a thousand words.

You can make your own with two copper adapters and a short piece of 1/2 copper pipe, or buy the type of spout that has a rubber O ring in it that just slips over a piece of copper pipe and just solder on one 1/2 slip X 1/2" MPT adaptor. The spout gets held in place with a set screw from the bottom of the spout.
