What pipe is this? can I connect abs to it?
I need to add on to the existing rain drain system on my house for 3 new downspouts.
The pipe I need to connect to is white and 3 1/2" OD.
Is this schedule 80 PVC?
The places I have looked do not have these fittings or the pipe.
Can I connect ABS to the PVC with all purpose cement?
I tried a piece of my pipe in the ABS fittings and it is kinda tight, is this ok? It seems to be very close to the same diameter as 3" pvc when I measure it.
One more question --- I have a section I need to connect to that the pipe is in concrete on either side so no way to move the pipe to install fitting, can I cut the pipe just big enough to slide the tee in and then slide it only halfway in on either side? or what is the correct procedure?
Thanks, for any help
White PVC is typically schedule 40
ABS and PVC are not generally meant to be mixed. I have heard that there are adapters between the two. Since ABS isn't allowed here I don't know for sure.
NO, you can't use all purpose cement. Buy a can of PVC cement so that you can ensure a sound joint.
Yes you can join them. Buy a product called transition glue to connect the different pipes. Use primer on the pvc side, but not the abs side.
