What is this pipe in basement for?

First post on this site and I have a feeling I'll be back.

You're looking at the basement floor of a 20 year old house where I plan to add a bathroom. The draining and supply lines are all above, so I think the large 4 inch PVC pipe is for radon. Does anyone know the purpose of the other small lead pipe?

My plan is to reroute the radon pipe through the 2x4 wall, will need to downgrade it to a 3 inch pipe. The lead pipe is in the way, so hoping I can just cut it at the base and seal it. I'm short on square footage in this area, so I didn't want to just box this all in.

Looks like an unused piece of EMT (electrical conduit).

It looks like it was used to brace up the PVC for the slab pour. They just didn't have anything else handy

Honestly though, I would not be messing with changing anything with a radon system. It is there for a reason and that is because the home has been tested positive for radon. Get a pro in for a consultation.

Nonsense. The only reason I put a radon system in my house is because local code said I had to. Having worked in the nuclear industry for nearly 30 years, I can tell you without reservation that radon mitigation is one of the biggest scams going. Almost nobody really needs it.

Yep, the Radon scam is just like the second-hand smoke scam.

Do you know where the pvc goes?

The small metal pipe shouldn't be rado related, they wouldn't vent radon into the basement.

Put your ear to the pipe and have someone flush a toilet. Hear anything?

Backup and take another picture. Pictures like this taken with electron microscopes don't really tell anyone anything. All the picture shows is: "YUP" there's a big pipe there and the wall studs are wood.

I'd vote a drain from your plumbing system from that pic.
