What parts do I need to connect my sink to the drain pipe?

I removed my garbage disposal and mounting assembly, now what do I need to connect my sink to the drain pipe? Right now there is just a big hole in the sink, with not catch basket or anything.

It is better to replace a broken garbage disposal, or remove it and put in just piping.

You need--Strainer basket---tailpiece washer(usually comes with basket)--tailpiece--P-trap--and plumbers putty.

That's a start--1 1/2 inch is the size--PVC --cuts easily with a hack saw or any other fine toothed saw.

I use my Japaneses pull saw--or a Sawsall with a hacksaw blade.

Take a picture of the piping--bring it to the store with you as a reminder.--Mike--

That's definitely a start. Also depends on whether it's a single or dual basin sink you'll most likely need a center, or end outlet continuous waste. depending on your sink configuration and location of the drain in the wall. May also need a new trap adapter.
