What is this fitting?

See fitting circled in red in the attached picture. This is in the main drain trunk for a basement bath of a house I'm having built. I assume it's some sort of clean out, just seemed odd since there's that 4" standpipe right in front of it with a clean out opening. All of what you see in the picture is outside the house.

Just curious, thanks!

What is this fitting?

Thanks! For those interested, it's basically a check valve that prevents sewage backups from overflowing out fixtures that are below grade, such is the case with my future basement. From my research they are only necessary if your lowest drain is less than 24" above the nearest sewer manhole. In my situation I'm several feet above the nearest manhole, so it probably isn't necessary, but can't hurt either.

Thanks again.

If the city line backs up, your basement is now protected.
UPC states building drains below the sewer manhole rim need back flow protection.

Make sure that when it gets buried , you still have access to it.
Its NO fun running a drain cable through a back water valve, and then trying to retrieve it.
