What does this pump do???

That's how we always do them if there is room for the pump on the side of the heater.

What does this pump do???


On a side note, that pump is like a 1/24 HP motor or even less (I think some are 1/64 HP). I'm sure the electricity that you will save by having a timer on it is minimal (timer probably cost more than what you will save over the life of the pump). More important probably and more expensive is the life of the pump motor not having it running 24/7.

huh have always seen and done connection at cold supply .i have only done a few though and always willing to learn more what is the benefit of tying into drain

Easier to install IMO, you don't have a valve, and supply tubing and expansion tank to fight with. Same situation later if you have to work on the dumb thing.
