What causes water in a farm home to have a black coloration?

Well water in a farm home
I doubt it has anything to do with you being on a farm. Black coloration may come from metal in the water, typically manganese. However, you need to get your water tested by a laboratory to find out, unfortunately an on line forum can only speculate about your specific issue.
