Well Casing Rust

i posted threads about black flecks coming up from the well. i was going to chlorinate the well today, and saw that the inside casing of the well is really rusty. could this be the culprit of the black flecks and fixture staining?

Looks like every well casing I've ever seen. Not sure about your black specks, but I don't think they're from that. (Opinion of a non-pro plumber who did a short stint as a well pump service tech.)

Do you also have steel pipes inside the house?
Is there a water softner or a whole house filter?

there are some galvanized pipes in the crawl space. yes on water softener. no on whole house filter.

my gut tells me that putting bleach down the rusty well casing isn't a good idea.
