Weak stream of water from shower head.

I have two showers in my house. One of them is a dedicated shower only and the other one is a tub with a shower head on top. The dedicated shower only has a weak stream of water coming from the head. At first I thought it was the shower head because I bought a cheapo $10 one from wal-mart.

So I bought a $40 shower head that was rated 2.5gpm. It still felt weak.

Before I replaced the cheapo $10 head with the $40 one, I also repaired the leak in the shower. I replaced the "Sayco" steam because it had a missing gasket. I did fix the leak, but I don't know if what I did had any effect on the weak flow of water. I also noticed the knob where you turn on the water is very loose compared the old Sayco steam that I had before.

Is there any quick fix that I can do to make the flow stronger? The water flow throughout the house seems fine.

There is a rubber gasket that allows the water to go through at a snails pace. Try replacing the rubber gasket with a new one that has a larger diameter hole.

Did the weak flow start when you changed the cartridge or was it always like that? I take it this is a single handle shower body? How old is it?

The weak flow was there before I changed it. This is a two handle shower body. I don't know how old it is, but the house was built in 1976.
