I know this should be simple. The feed line is cooper and then there is this valve. I thought it would just twist close to stop the water flow, but it does not seem to do that. It just turns. I need to move the fridge, and have to disconnect the line from the plastic tube side. I don't plan on putting the fridge right back as I have to do work in the area it is in.
I am worried about not being able to control the water flow once I disconnect. Has anyone worked with this type of valve before?
When those little valves get some age they fail often. You will have to trace your copper feed line back to where it taps to a larger copper line and see if there is another shut off valve that may stop the flow of water to the ice maker line....
If no valve is found that works, you will have to shut off the water to the whole house to change that little valve. ( Unless your super fast and dont mind getting the kitchen floor drowned while installing a new 1/4 inch valve while the water is still on to it. good luck
