Water softener salt not dissolving

I have a Master Water conditioner. We used to add salt everyother week, but now the same salt stays at the same level and doesn't dissolve. I cleaned out the small filter, but nothing. Any ideas?

Is it that the system is not removing the water from the salt tank?
How often does the system clean or regen? days or gallons?
I have filled a salt tank with salt when there is no salt but water and the salt did not drop down because the water already had the 26% salt load and would not dissolve any of the new salt put in the salt tank.

I'm not entirely familiar with that brand and the salt storage, but could the salt be "bridging" ?

i do not know much about water softners but i love to learn
so is bridging where salt holds together and to sides so only salt below desolves only

and has water consumption changed i have fixed a running toilet for someone and that was why it was using high amounts of salt

Yep, i had one at a car wash, that the salt under the top was completely gone, but the bridge covered it. I took a broom handle, poked thru it and there was nothing underneath but water. Wasn't even touching the salt left at the top.
