Default Water Softener Repair

I have MacClean CBW-1000 series water softener that is starting to leak either from the piston or from a blown seal. My local retailer has a repair kit for the piston head or the o-ring. They say that the series that this is available for is CBW-1100 series. Does anyone know if this will work or should I look at a new system?

If they say it will fit your control valve, why are you questioning that?

Is your control valve brass or black plastic?

If plastic post a picture of it, it may be a Clack WS-1.

And if you can get parts, why replace the whole softener instead of fixing the one you have?
