Water pressure drop in tub only
 

We have about a 15-20 year old shower with a single handle Delta faucet. The pressure recently dropped by about 50% in both the tub faucet and shower head. The rest of the house still works perfectly, including the sink that's right next to this tub. Any idea what could be causing this?

Time to rebuild or replace it.
If you were to contact the company with a pictue most often they will send you all the parts for free, worth a try.

Any other thoughts on specifically what I can do to fix this without ripping out the tiles or drywall on the other side of the wall? I have no experience with this, but don't want to hire a plumber if it's something somewhat easy.

Deltas are easy to repair--the valve body is good for a life time---

Post a picture and some body will recognize it and tell you how to change the guts---

I can't speak for Joecaption, but i believe he was talking about rebuilding the Delta faucet. No ripping of tiles necessary, just shut the water off and take the faucet apart. Put new parts in, turn water back on. Done. Whatever type Delta you have, just google it, and you likely find instructions for a redo.

May need to go buy a special tool to get the whole thing apart.
It looks like a deep well hollow socket with a tee handle on it.

Could it really be something as easy as a partially plugged valve cartridge?

UPDATE

I took all of your advice and took the faucet apart. I went to Home Depot and found the correct catridge replacement. Before I reinstalled it, I turned the water back on and let the water pour out to clean the valves. The water came out so fast it almost knocked me over, so we're getting good pressure.

I put everything back together and the pressure is still low! Any other thoughts, this is driving me nuts :censored:

Is the shower head plugged up?

Remove the shower head from the shower arm and test it

The shower head and tub faucet were both reduced about 50% at the same time, so I don't think it's the head.
