water pressure and compressions

I recently had a leaking compression stop that I tightened up and it seems to have stopped. Just for the hell of it I checked all the other compression stops and two more were leaking. One had a fast drip. I know they just started. Now I may be reaching here but could a spike in the water pressure cause compressions to suddenly start leaking?? What about draining the water pipes and then turning the water back on too quickly??

It is possible. A sudden spike in water pressure with the presense of water hammer. I would think it would need the water hammer invoked.

Just an increase should not cause it.

thanks. I was wondering because a water heater pipe was replaced 2 weeks ago and when the water was turned back on and the faucets were opened there was quite a bit of banging when the air was forced out the the lines. This is when the valves started to drip.
