water pipes make noise after use
Help, almost after every use of water or especially after flushing the bowl, there is a loud rumbling sound from in the walls, it lasts for about 8-10 seconds , when I turn the cold tap back on for a second, the noise stops.
I live in a owned townhouse and my neighbors pipes do it too, yes we have seperate feeds, but I hear the noise at all hours when I'm not using any water. Any help or hints would be greatly appreciated thanks. noise only started about 3 months ago lived here over 2 years now. |

Sounds like the water pressure is too high. I used to live in an old house and the pipes would rattle like you are saying. Pressure was too high which was obvious when a faucet was turned on and I would get showered by the splash.

Water hammer-- when the water is turned off then the pipes will rattle from the back pressure from the water flowing thru them. Check to see that the pipes are secured where ever possible. Install a water hammer eliminator if securing the pipes does not solve the problem. This device works like an air chamber or shock absorber and is added in-line to the plumbing system.
