Water main break yesterday - now toilet won't stop running
Our water main broke about a block away yesterday, and when the city had it all patched up, I had to run a good bit of water through all of the faucets to get clean and bubble-free water to flow. As soon as the water came back on, one of my new toilets just started running non-stop. It's not a heavy flow, just a constant hiss coming from the tank. Is there likely a piece of dirt that's holding something open in the tank innards?
It's a Kohler/Fluidmaster fill valve. Not really sure if/how to take it apart.
One thing I learned with this is that the plastic stem 47-turn stop valves that the big orange box sells are crap. If I have to empty the tank anyway, I'll probably go ahead and replace that with a quarter turn valve too.
