water line to toilet drips after toilet seal replacement

I replaced the "donut" in the toilet and after toilet re-seated and completed, I now have a drip in the basement coming off of the water line coming up through the floor to the toilet. The connection in the water line coming from the floor to the toilet drips where the connection is made to the short line in to the toilet. How do
I tighten or secure this connection to stop the leak?

Not sure what you are describing. The usual connection is 1/2" pipe to a shutoff valve. Then 3/8 pipe with compression fittings from valve to toilet. If the pipe was rigid, replace with steel wrapped flex pipe. Those rigid pipes often don't seat in the same place after removal and can be a bear to reseat without leaks.
