Water line for front Garden

I have a pump that takes water from a canal. There use to be a sprinkler system run from it. I need to run a water line from the pump and put in a spiggot for a hose. We are under water rationing and I have to water by hand. Any advise?

Thats not enough info.. does the pump still have a suction line on it?, are there any controls on it?, how far out of the discharge to you plan to run?.
