Water Heater Pressure Relief Valve Leaking.

the pressure relief valve on my hot water heater started leaking after i tested it, a very slow drip. after reading up on them i replaced it last weekend, but it is still leaking. it only seems to leak when we take showers, and its a very small amount of water, any ideas? is my water tank going to explode?

thanks.

Do you have an expansion tank on the system? Its possible the bladder inside has blown and it needs to be replaced. The pressure build up won't have anywhere to go which can then trip the T&P valve on the heater.

There should be an air valve on the expansion tank (like a bike tire valve). Press it briefly. If water comes out, the tank's bladder has blown and it needs replacement.

If air comes out, its fine.
