Water heater not working
 

Hey,
I have a water heater that is not heating water. I changed the heating element and refilled the tank, but I still do not get hot water. Any ideas?

Is this a gas or electric appliance? What do you mean by "refilled tank"?

Electric. I refilled the tank meaning I had to drain it to get the heating element out. After replacing the element, I had to refill the tank.

Sorry but gotta ask. Did you remember to turn the circuit breaker to the heater back on? When you say element (singular), did you replace the lower or upper element?

If the upper element is bad, water will not be heated even if the lower element is good. Aside from a wiring error, the upper thermostat contact that applies power to the upper element could not be making good contact.

I did turn the power back on. :)
There is a red reset button that I am going to push and see where that takes me. This unit does not have an upper element. There is just one and it is in the lower slot.

What's the gallon capacity of the water heater?
BTW, did the red reset button fix the problem?

It looks like the problem has been fixed. I didn't have to hit the red button.....just had to be more patient. Thank you all for your help with this!
