water heater leaks

I noticed some water at the base of my 40 gallon Envi-ro-temp electric water heater this morning. I believe this heater is about a 1994 model. Upon further inspection I noticed that all 3 reservoirs on top of the tank were full of water. When I say reservoirs I mean the 3" cups that are home to the hot and cold water connections and a 3/4" plug. It is clear that all 3 of these reservoirs are filling up individually and slowly running over the side of the water heater. I check this heater pretty regularly, and have never noticed anything abnormal. Is it normal to have multiple failures at the same time?

It is more likely a single leak. If you can't readily find it leaking and repair it from outside the tank body, it may be time to replace it.
Good Luck!

Empty all three and dry them. Then keep an eye on it for the next few minutes to see which one is filling up first.
