Water heater. Flame doesn't stay lit

Richmond hot water heater. Been doing this for awhile. When the initial start up to heat the water heater, blower goes on, then there is a click to start the flame. You can hear the flame. Then the flame goes out and it repeats to start up. Does this a number of times. Thanks for the help.

Some of those have sensors that go bad and need to be replaced. As mentioned above, really need model number to go any further. Thanks.

Found this on another forum. I did this and it still happens

Since you are getting to the point of ignition then most likely it is failing to approve the ignition. If your pilot is of adequate size then take some sandpaper and clean off the flame rod that is next to the pilot. -- Ej (1/7/12)

Check pressure switch for moisture, remove and shake it, if water comes out, replace it.

Check vacuum hoses for cracks and loose connections.

Check pvc vent for obstructions, it may be building up condensation.

Check fan blades on blower for caked on dust.

These suggestions came from your owners manual in the troubleshooting section. If still no luck, call the manufactuer for further information. Part(s) may be covered under the waranty, and may save you some money. Sorry I couldn't be of more help to you. Let's see what others recommend.

Well looks like it's working fine now. Who knows. Thanks for the additional things to keep in mind in case it acts up.
